Hydroscand’s science-based targets validated by the SBTi

Climate action is becoming increasingly urgent. The latest climate science shows that rapid and deep emissions reductions are needed to limit global warming to 1.5°C, in line with the goals of the Paris Agreement. By having our targets validated by the SBTi, we are proud to take part in this important global effort.

The validation means that our greenhouse gas emissions reduction targets have been assessed against the latest climate science and aligned with what is needed to limit global warming to 1.5°C, in line with the goals of the Paris Agreement. It gives us a clear, long-term direction for reducing emissions across our operations and value chain.

We are committed to achieving net-zero greenhouse gas emissions across our value chain by 2050. As part of this commitment, we will reduce absolute Scope 1, 2 and 3 greenhouse gas emissions by 63% by 2035 from a 2024 base year. Looking further ahead, we will reduce absolute Scope 1, 2 and 3 greenhouse gas emissions by 90% by 2050 from a 2024 base year.

What the targets cover

The targets cover Scope 1, 2 and 3 emissions. This means they include both emissions from our own operations and emissions across our wider value chain.

• Scope 1 emissions come from sources that we own or control directly, such as fuel used in company vehicles or heating.
• Scope 2 emissions come from purchased energy, such as electricity.
• Scope 3 emissions come from the wider value chain, including purchased goods and services, transportation, business travel, waste, use of sold products and other activities outside our direct operations.

A framework for continued climate action
